In 2009 the foundation pooled the talent and resources of the Shin Kong group to create the Shin Kong Volunteer Corps, inviting our employees to donate their time to charitable causes. Since its creation the group has grown to around 600 volunteers. Each year they work with nearly 30 other social welfare organizations to organize over 100 volunteer events, and to date they have contributed a total of over 7,000 volunteer hours.

Our activities cover a wide range of causes, including providing for the elderly and those with disabilities, women's issues, aboriginal education, environmental conservation, cancer advocacy, and more. Such a diverse array of commitments enables us to support all kinds of non-profits in gathering the manpower they need to host events.

We also have a comprehensive training system in place to improve our standards and the quality of our volunteer efforts. As our operations and management have matured, we have received several commendations from the government, including:

  • 2014 Top-Performing Comprehensive Volunteer Service
  • 2015 Top-Performing Corporate Volunteer Organization Award
  • 2018 Outstanding Corporate Volunteer Group Award

We also work with the government on policy, advocating for volunteerism. At the invitation of the Taipei Department of Social Welfare's Volunteer Service Development Center, we have participated in a number of workshops to share about our group’s operating methods and successes, including:

  • Corporate social responsibility seminar on the role of and promotion of corporate volunteering
  • Site visit to the New Taipei City Volunteer Center
  • Study tour of Thai Metropolitan Electricity Authority's volunteer operations

As we look to the future, we will continue to strengthen team spirit and strive for excellence as a volunteer organization.
